Aloaha shortlisted at the Global Carrier Awards 2020
Aloaha Limited was shortlisted at the Global Carrier Awards 2020 for its blockchain-based identity and anti-fraud solution. A small software company from Malta, named on the same shortlist as some of the largest international telecom carriers and wholesale operators.
About the Global Carrier Awards
The Global Carrier Awards have been organised by Capacity Media since 2005 and recognise achievement and innovation across the international wholesale telecoms industry: carriers, network operators, and the technology and service companies that work with them. The 2020 awards were the sixteenth edition.
Because of the pandemic, the 2020 ceremony was held entirely online for the first time, broadcast in October 2020 alongside the Capacity Europe event. According to the organisers, the year drew more than 200 nominations across 39 categories, from which 134 companies were shortlisted. A judging panel read, assessed and compared the entries in each category to decide the shortlist and the winners.
Why a shortlisting matters
The Global Carrier Awards are among the best-known awards in wholesale telecoms, and most entrants are established international carriers with large product and engineering organisations behind them. A place on the shortlist means the judges compared an entry side by side with theirs and ranked it among the strongest in its category.
For Aloaha, being shortlisted next to global telecom giants was outside recognition that a focused team can bring identity and fraud-prevention ideas to the carrier world on equal terms.
The shortlisted entry: blockchain-based identity and anti-fraud
The entry used blockchain technology to give telecom operators verifiable identities and a tamper-evident record to help them fight fraud. It built on Aloaha’s background in digital signatures and PKI, which goes back to 2003.

The same focus on verified identity and fraud prevention runs through CodeB today:
- EU Digital Identity Wallet verifier — cryptographically verified identity instead of usernames and passwords.
- OpenID Connect and passkeys identity provider for sign-in on your own infrastructure.
- Session border controller with built-in toll-fraud protection that helps stop fraudulent calls before they reach your trunks.
The following year, CodeB was shortlisted again: Global Carrier Awards 2021, Best Blockchain / Security Innovation.
